Carey F. Kalmowitz

Carey F. Kalmowitz is a founding partner at The Health Law Partners, P.C. Based in Farmington, Michigan, he graduated from New York University Law School in 1994 and earned his bachelor's degree from Vassar College in 1989.

Admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1994, Mr. Kalmowitz has built a robust practice in healthcare law, focusing on corporate and financial matters. His expertise includes structuring revenue-enhancing transactions for physicians and healthcare providers, handling certificate of need, compliance investigations, and addressing corporate fraud and abuse, including Stark Law and third-party payment issues.

Mr. Kalmowitz offers comprehensive counsel to physicians and physician groups on integration strategies, ancillary services, employment and recruitment agreements, shareholder agreements, and compliance. He is adept at negotiating joint ventures and hospital relationships, providing advice on the Stark Law, Anti-kickback Statute, and reimbursement regulations.

His experience extends to serving as general counsel for a major regional healthcare system, where he managed a broad spectrum of hospital legal issues. He has also assisted providers with certificate of need projects, including two replacement hospitals and various CT, MRI, and ASC transactions.

Additionally, Mr. Kalmowitz advises long-term care facilities on compliance and business matters and represents a diverse range of healthcare providers, including ambulatory surgery centers and durable medical equipment suppliers, on transactional issues.

He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Society of Hospital Attorneys, the American Health Lawyer's Association, and the American Bar Association. Mr. Kalmowitz has contributed several articles to the healthcare field, sharing his extensive knowledge and insights.
