Courtney L Thom

Courtney L Thom was raised in Mid-Michigan and pursued her academic journey at Central Michigan University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Sociology, emphasizing Criminal Justice. She advanced her legal education at Michigan State University College of Law, earning her Juris Doctor and graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Courtney's legal career commenced in October 2007 when she was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan. Her initial role was as a judicial law clerk for the Midland County Circuit Court, where she conducted legal research across various legal disciplines. After successfully passing the Florida Bar Exam, she served as an Assistant State Attorney in the 17th Judicial Circuit in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she prosecuted cases involving both adult and juvenile offenders.

Returning to Michigan, Courtney took on the role of Assistant Prosecutor in Isabella County, continuing her work in criminal prosecution. In 2011, she transitioned to a defense attorney role at Mathieu & Lee, PLC, where she broadened her practice to include domestic relations, covering divorce, custody, child support, and parenting time issues.

In early 2014, Courtney joined W. Jay Brown, PLC (now Brown Law, PLC), where she continues to represent clients in criminal defense and family law matters, guiding them through each stage of the legal process from initiation to trial. Although based in Midland, she regularly handles cases in Saginaw, Gladwin, Isabella, and Bay Counties.
