Douglas McPhail

Doug McPhail brings more than three decades of experience in assisting families with estate planning and elder law to protect against nursing home poverty, taxes, and probate expenses. Doug completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Mass Communications at Taylor University, where he was actively involved in student government leadership. He pursued his legal education at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, graduating with honors in 1988. During his time there, he received the American Jurisprudence Award for Academic Excellence in Professional Responsibility and contributed as a published member of the University of Detroit Law Review.

Doug gained valuable experience as a summer intern and law clerk for John W. Whitehead at the Rutherford Institute, a prominent organization dedicated to defending civil liberties. After law school, Doug returned to western Michigan and established his own practice, focusing exclusively on estate planning and elder law.

A member of Wealth Counsel, the Muskegon County Bar Association, and the West Michigan Estate Planning Counsel, Doug has shared his expertise through lectures both locally and nationally on topics related to estate planning and elder law.
