Ryan Peterson

Ryan D. Peterson, a Senior Associate at Consumer Justice Law Firm, is committed to advocating for consumers in Edina, Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and earned his law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law, now known as the Mitchell Hamline School of Law.

Before joining the firm, Ryan managed his own legal practice for a decade. During this time, he specialized in litigating under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act in federal court. He also defended consumers in state court against claims for unsecured debts. Ryan takes pride in his successful cases where he established that the FDCPA applies to attorneys evicting tenants in Minnesota for alleged non-payment of rent.

Currently, Ryan focuses his practice on protecting consumers from unfair treatment by large entities, including banks, consumer reporting agencies, and landlords. His commitment to consumer rights is further demonstrated by his membership in the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA).

Ryan is also deeply involved in volunteer work and consumer education. He has previously taught classes through Minneapolis Community Education, guiding consumers in disputing inaccurate credit reporting information. Additionally, he serves as a commissioner on the Minneapolis Commission on Civil Rights, where he helps adjudicate alleged violations of the Minneapolis Civil Rights Ordinance.
