James Kelly

James L. Kelly, a highly respected attorney in Brandon, Mississippi, is dedicated to providing fair and just representation. With extensive experience in defending individuals accused of misdemeanor or felony crimes, he serves clients across the State of Mississippi, focusing on Rankin, Madison, and Hinds counties.

James L. Kelly earned his B.B.A. from Mississippi State University in 1983 and his J.D. from the University of Mississippi, Law Center in 1986. He was admitted to practice in Mississippi in 1987, including before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2010, he gained admission to the United States Supreme Court.

His professional memberships include the Mississippi Bar, where he served on the Board of Directors for the Young Lawyers Division from 1995 to 1996, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also contributes to the Mississippi Law Alumni Association Board of Directors and is actively involved with Wesley Chapel Church in Jackson, Mississippi.

Before his current practice, Mr. Kelly served as an Assistant District Attorney in Madison and Rankin Counties from 1992 to 1998, and in Clarke, Kemper, Lauderdale, and Wayne Counties from 1988 to 1991. He began his legal career as a Special Assistant Attorney General at the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office from 1987 to 1988.
