About Ronald Morton
Ronald C. Morton, LL.M., CELA, is the esteemed founder of the Morton Law Firm, PLLC. His practice encompasses a broad range of services, including estate planning, asset protection, elder law, business planning, and Medicaid planning across Mississippi. Mr. Morton graduated cum laude in 1988 from Mississippi College, with a double major in public administration and applied sociology. He earned his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from Mississippi College School of Law in 1992. Furthering his expertise, he obtained a Masters of Law in Taxation with Honors from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2007 and holds the Certified Elder Law Attorney designation from the National Elder Law Foundation.
Mr. Morton is a prolific legal scholar, contributing numerous articles to legal publications. He co-authored the 1994 Mississippi Rules Annotated and authored a significant law review article on Mississippi courts' procedural rule-making powers, published in the Mississippi College Law Review in 1992. His work includes two chapters on procedural discovery in West’s Mississippi Civil Procedure and contributions to the Civil Procedure chapter in West’s Encyclopedia of Mississippi Law. Additionally, he authored chapters on Driving While Under the Influence and Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships for the same encyclopedia.
During his law school tenure, Mr. Morton was the Managing Editor of the Mississippi College Law Review and participated in the American Inns of Court, Charles Clark Inn, advancing from Pupil to Barrister. Licensed in both Mississippi and Louisiana, he has been an active Mississippi Bar member for 15 years, previously chairing its Technology Committee and currently serving on its Executive Committee. In recognition of his contributions to legal education and technology, he received the Mississippi Bar’s Distinguished Service Award in 2005.
A lifelong learner, Mr. Morton completes at least 36 hours of continuing legal education annually, far exceeding professional requirements. He is affiliated with the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, WealthCounsel, and The Advisor’s Forum. Beyond his legal practice, he serves in the First Baptist Church of Jackson.
