Thomas P. Welch Jr.

Thomas P. Welch Jr. is a dedicated attorney practicing in Clinton, Mississippi, with a focus on criminal law and asset forfeiture defense. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Mississippi in 1999, earning degrees in English and History, and went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi Law School in 2002. That same year, he was admitted to the Mississippi Bar and the United States District Courts for both the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, as well as the United States 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2008, he gained admission to the Maryland Bar.

Thomas began his legal career in 2002, focusing primarily on criminal law. During his initial three years, he practiced general law, managing several felony trials and numerous other criminal cases, alongside family law and personal injury matters. In 2005, he transitioned to public service as a Senior Attorney for the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. During his four-year tenure, he handled hundreds of forfeiture cases and prosecuted drug offenses as a Special Assistant Attorney General.

In July 2009, Thomas established the Law Office of Thomas P. Welch, Jr., where he continues to offer defense in criminal matters, asset forfeiture defense, and expungement services. His practice expanded in 2016 when he became a partner at Sumrall & Welch.
