Jefferson Davis Gilder

Jefferson Davis Gilder, licensed to practice law in both Mississippi and Tennessee since 1990, is a well-established attorney with a comprehensive range of practice areas. His legal expertise encompasses automobile accidents, premises liability, criminal law, medical malpractice, civil rights, and product liability. Mr. Gilder is admitted to practice in all courts within Mississippi and Tennessee, including the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Tennessee and the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, as well as the Fifth and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Gilder impressively passed both the Mississippi and Tennessee Bar Examinations in the same week in 1990. His career includes the formation of new ventures, with Chatham Gilder Howell Pittman PLLC emerging from a merger of previous firms.

In addition to his legal work, Mr. Gilder is actively involved in his community. He is a member of the Orchard Church, where he has served as a deacon for one year and as an elder for four years, concluding in 2018. He also contributes as a member of the Board of Directors.

Known by his nickname "Bruiser," Mr. Gilder inspired a character in John Grisham's novel "The Rainmaker," based on a case he handled involving a sham agency and a life insurance company. His father, Bod Gilder, also a character inspiration, practiced law alongside him.
