James Heidelberg

James H. Heidelberg, a lifelong resident of Pascagoula, Mississippi, has been a practicing attorney since January 1978. He is known for his expertise in trial and appellate litigation, particularly in the areas of personal injury, governmental law, and professional liability. Over his career, Mr. Heidelberg has briefed or argued more than eighty cases before the Mississippi Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Heidelberg represents several Mississippi governmental agencies and political subdivisions and is an approved attorney for the Mississippi Tort Claims Board. He also serves as an approved arbitrator for the Mississippi Bar's Court Annexed Mediation Project and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). His practice includes active mediation and arbitration, as well as governmental and policy consultation for state and national clients.

Mr. Heidelberg earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Finance from the University of Southern Mississippi and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Mississippi. Notably, he was the first legal intern to present oral argument before the Mississippi Supreme Court in 1977, successfully achieving the reversal of a capital murder conviction.

A founding member of the University of Southern Mississippi Law Society, Mr. Heidelberg has held various roles within the USM Alumni Association and the USM Foundation. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Mississippi Bar, the Mississippi Bar Foundation, the Jackson County Bar Association, the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, the Mississippi Claims Association, The Defense Research Institute, the American Inns of Court, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, and the International Association of Defense Counsel.
