Samantha D Pennington

Samantha D. Pennington brings a wealth of experience to her practice in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, particularly in the areas of estate planning and family law. She earned her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the Chicago John Marshall Law School in 2009 and furthered her expertise with a Legum Magistra (LL.M) in Tax Law, emphasizing estate planning, in 2010.

Before attending law school, Samantha gained valuable experience as a paralegal, focusing on employment discrimination and products liability for three years. During her time at law school, she was recognized with several awards and honors. Notably, she served as a teaching assistant to Professor Barry Kozak, instructing JD candidates, and received the CALI Award for excellence in Partnership Taxation. She also excelled in the Mugel National Moot Court Competition in Buffalo, New York, securing second place overall, as well as second best brief and oralist.

While pursuing her J.D., Samantha clerked at the Chicago firm Kamerlink, Stark, McCormick and Powers, where she gained significant experience in divorce and custody cases. Her LL.M education included a legal externship with the Illinois Department of Revenue, assisting the Illinois Associate General Counsel with individual and estate income tax matters.

In 2009, Samantha joined the in-house tax counsel team at Integrys Energy Corporation, a Fortune 500 national energy company based in Chicago. There, she specialized in business law, developing expertise in strategy, planning, and audit protection across federal and multi-state corporate, partnership, and limited liability company taxation.
