Jessica M Laughlin

Jessica M. Laughlin serves as an Associate Legal Counsel at the Robert M. Brenner Law Office located in Gering, Nebraska. Since February 2021, she has been actively practicing as a private attorney. Jessica is a proud member of the Nebraska Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the Scotts Bluff County Bar Association. In her role as a Nebraska Mediator, she contributed to a committee responsible for drafting ethics standards for RJ mediators and facilitators under the Office of Dispute Resolution. Currently, she serves on the board of the Nebraska Mediation Association (NMA).

Jessica earned her Juris Doctor from UNL College of Law in 2015, concentrating on criminal law and litigation. She holds bar admissions in both Nebraska and Colorado. Before her private practice, Jessica gained significant experience as a Deputy County Legal Counsel with the Scotts Bluff County Legal Counsel's Office, where she handled the DUI and traffic docket, managing both felony and misdemeanor cases. She was the lead prosecutor in over 60 trials during her tenure there.

Jessica's background also includes serving as a field training officer, where she educated new officers on the Fourth Amendment and legal principles concerning arrest, search, and seizure, alongside the practical challenges faced by police on Nebraska's roads. Before attending law school, she dedicated seven years to working as a police officer in rural Nebraska.
