John A. Lentz

John A. Lentz embarked on his legal career with a desire to navigate complex legal challenges and assist clients in both overcoming difficult situations and planning to prevent future issues. He holds a Juris Doctorate with Distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law, awarded in 2010, and a Master of Arts in Philosophy.

During his time in law school, John was recognized for his academic excellence with several CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Bankruptcy, Secured Transactions, Business Planning, and Native American Law Seminar. He also received the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence and the American Law Institute/American Bar Association’s Scholarship and Leadership Award.

John's notable achievements include winning first place in the 2009-2010 American Indian Law Review Writing Competition with his article, “When Canons Go to War in Indian Country, Guess Who Wins?” Barrett v. United States: Tax Canons and Canons of Construction in the Federal Taxation of American Indians,” published in 35 Am. Ind. L. Rev. 211 (2010). Furthermore, he co-authored an article in The Nebraska Lawyer titled “When the Heart-Broken are Financially Broken: Divorce and Bankruptcy” with David P. Lepant, published in 14 The Neb. Lawyer No. 3, 11 (March, 2011).
