John P. Michaelson

John P. Michaelson is the owner and managing partner of Michaelson Law, based in Boulder City, Nevada. Since joining the firm in 2003, John has been instrumental in helping thousands of clients safeguard their businesses and estates. His commitment to legal excellence is demonstrated through active memberships in organizations such as WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. John has previously served as president of the Nevada WealthCounsel Forum and as general counsel for the Veterans Action Group, a local nonprofit. Additionally, he chaired the Elder Law Section of the Nevada State Bar from June 2007 to July 2008.

Before joining Michaelson Law, John honed his legal skills as an associate attorney at DLA Piper, a leading international law firm, where he specialized in labor and employment litigation in federal court. His early legal career also included serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert J. Johnston at the United States District Court for the District of Nevada.

John was admitted to the Nevada Bar in 2001, the same year he earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah. During law school, he was a senior staff member of the Utah Law Review and co-founded Law Students for Children, an advocacy group for abused and neglected children. His dedication to youth continues through his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, where he upholds his Eagle Scout pledge to community service.

Prior to his legal career, John gained financial industry experience as a securities broker at Fidelity Investments, dealing with stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and options. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Finance from Utah State University, where he met his wife, Regina. Married for nearly 30 years, they have four children. In his leisure time, John enjoys motorcycles, camping, and movies.
