About Susanne M. Chisholm
Susanne M. Chisholm, born in Barre, Vermont, is an accomplished attorney specializing in probate and estate planning in Belknap County, New Hampshire. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Vermont in 1987 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1992. During her time in law school, she received the American Jurisprudence Award and The Little, Brown & Company Award in Trusts and Estates.
Admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1992 and the New Hampshire Bar in 1994, Susanne began her legal career at a Big Six accounting firm before moving into private judicial practice. She became a partner at a Laconia law firm prior to co-founding Lawson Persson & Chisholm, PC, in 2012.
Her dedication to the legal field was recognized in 1996 when she was named one of "New Hampshire's Best and Brightest" young attorneys by New Hampshire Editions. In 1997, she received the President's Award for Pro Bono Legal Counsel of the Year in Belknap County.
Susanne is an active member of the New Hampshire Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Estate Planning Council. She frequently conducts continuing legal education courses on estate planning and probate topics.
Beyond her legal career, Susanne is a founder of the Seacoast Community Chamber Orchestra, now the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra, where she plays flute, piccolo, and piano. Her interests also include alpine skiing, gardening, and training foster dogs with New England Border Collie Rescue, Inc., where she serves on the board. Additionally, she is the past Chapter Chairperson for the American Red Cross Greater White Mountain Chapter and a former member of the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation. Susanne resides in Sanbornton.
