Andres Yoav Mejer

Andres Yoav Mejer was born in Santiago, Chile, and grew up in a Spanish-speaking household. His family first arrived in the United States in 1981 as tourists and overstayed their visas, leading to nearly a decade without legal status. During this time, they could not work legally or obtain driver's licenses. In 1989, after facing challenges and fraud in their quest for legal residency, his family finally secured green cards. However, a move in 1996 jeopardized their status, and Andres nearly lost his green card. He returned to the U.S. in 1998 and became a citizen in 1999, although his father and sister were not as fortunate.

Driven by his experiences, Andres became a speaker, author, and attorney to educate others about their rights and the importance of timely legal action. He emphasizes that education is a key defense in immigration matters.

Andres graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick and earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School, where he met his wife. They reside in Long Branch, New Jersey, with their two children. He is actively involved in the community as a Commissioner of the Long Branch Housing Authority, a board member of the Monmouth Family Health Center, and a member of the Board of Brothers of Israel.
