About Jeffrey B. Diamond
Jeffrey B. Diamond has been a dedicated legal professional in Carlsbad, New Mexico, since 1976. Born in Manhattan, New York, in 1950, and raised in Lakewood, New Jersey, he graduated from the Hun School of Princeton in 1968. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from Dickinson College in 1972, and studied at the Dickinson Center for International Studies in Bologna, Italy. Jeff's early career included internships in the U.S. Senate, leading to a full-time staff position until 1973, when he began his legal education at the Pepperdine University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1976.
Jeff was admitted to the New Mexico Bar in 1976 and is authorized to practice in the United States District Courts for the District of New Mexico and the Western District of Arkansas, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th and 7th Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is affiliated with the New Mexico Bar Association, Eddy County Bar Association, New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives, and Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. Notably, Jeff was the first lawyer in New Mexico to be board certified in Social Security Disability law by the Board of Legal Specialty Certification and was recently recertified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
His community involvement has been extensive, including roles such as President of the Carlsbad Board of Education, founder and board member of the Carlsbad Mental Health Association, and Chairman of the Eddy County Democratic Party. Jeff has served on the Board of Directors for the Anti-Defamation League of New Mexico and has held positions in various fraternal organizations. He was also a Past President of the Carlsbad Jewish Congregation.
From 2002 to 2010, Jeff served on the Carlsbad City Council and was instrumental in founding the Carlsbad Community Development Corporation, focusing on affordable housing and vocational training. He served on the NM Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners and was recognized by New Mexico State University - Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard for his contributions.
Jeff remains committed to civil rights, having attended a 2011 ADL conference in Washington, D.C., addressing issues like school bullying and civil rights. He currently serves as the New Mexico State President of the Anti-Defamation League.
