Jacob David Verchereau

Jacob David Verchereau began his legal career after graduating from Manhattan College in 2009. He worked as a Special Education Advocate & Paralegal at a prominent Manhattan law firm for seven years, focusing on student advocacy. In this role, Jacob attended Committee on Special Education meetings, assisting parents in developing their children's Individual Education Programs and 504 Plans. He also supported attorneys in navigating the administrative due process procedures under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, including impartial hearings and appeals to the State Review Officer.

In 2015, Jacob returned to Troy, New York, to pursue his law degree at Albany Law School, graduating magna cum laude in 2018. During his time there, he actively participated in the interscholastic moot court program and competed on the ABA Negotiations and Client Counseling Teams. He also served as an Editor on the Albany Government Law Review and completed internships with the New York State Education Department's Office of State Review, Albany Law School's Community Development Clinic, and Prisoners' Legal Services of Albany.

After earning his J.D., Jacob became Counsel to the School Administrators' Association of New York State, specializing as a public-sector, labor-side Labor & Employment attorney. In this capacity, he represented public school and BOCES administrators, as well as civil service employees, across New York State. Jacob is well-versed in contract negotiations, collective bargaining, disciplinary matters, grievances, appeals to the Commissioner of Education, Public Employment Relations Board matters, Article 78 proceedings, and various human resource issues.
