About John Lipsitz
John Ned Lipsitz co-founded the Buffalo, New York law firm of Lipsitz, Ponterio & Comerford, LLC. Since 1985, he has dedicated his practice to representing workers affected by industrial diseases, including asbestosis and mesothelioma.
From 1981 to 1985, Mr. Lipsitz was part of the clinical faculty at Buffalo Law School of the State University of New York. There, he guided students in legal representation of consumer debtors, occupational safety and health law, constitutional rights, and habeas corpus. He also taught Research and Writing and Legal Ethics. Prior to this, between 1979 and 1981, he served as a staff attorney at the Buffalo Office of Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York.
With over four decades of legal experience, Mr. Lipsitz has managed a wide array of cases. These include class actions to protect constitutional rights and lifetime health insurance benefits for retired workers, wrongful employment termination, negligent exposure to HIV, childhood lead poisoning, automobile accidents, medical malpractice, immigration law, construction accidents, workers' compensation, and radiation-induced cancer claims. Notably, he represented plaintiffs in New York State's first chronic beryllium disease cases.
Mr. Lipsitz is also skilled in appellate work, having briefed and argued numerous appeals in state and federal appellate courts. He has handled hundreds of motions on significant legal issues within New York State trial courts and successfully argued several appeals in New York’s highest appellate court.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a law degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. Mr. Lipsitz has been admitted to practice law in New York State since 1979.
