Nelson Edward Timken

Nelson Edward Timken brings a wealth of experience to his role as a mediator, arbitrator, and special master in the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department. With a career spanning 30 years in the New York State Judicial System, he has honed his skills in negotiating cases, particularly in the commercial division from 1994 to 2023. Since retiring as a law clerk, he has dedicated himself to alternative dispute resolution.

Nelson's credentials include an LLM in International Dispute Resolution from Fordham Law School, earned in 2022. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. His training includes over 200 hours of specialized mediation preparation, alongside certification requirements in Florida and New Jersey, including comprehensive background checks.

As a full-time mediator, Nelson handles a wide array of cases, including commercial disputes, business divorces, real estate, personal injury, and employment issues. He is actively involved in court rosters and offers pro bono services. Since 2018, he has been engaged in arbitration work for FINRA, holding both chair and mediation qualifications.
