Maria Mateo

Maria Mateo launched Maria Mateo PC in 2010, bringing her expertise in complex litigation to clients across New York. She earned her Legal Master’s Degree from St. John’s University, graduating with distinction. Maria is licensed to practice law in New York and is admitted to the Federal Courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States.

Her practice spans several key areas, including Immigration and Matrimonial Law. Maria expertly handles family and work petitions along with family-related legal matters such as divorces, child custody, child support, and pre and postnuptial agreements.

Maria's dedication to providing high-quality legal services has been widely recognized. In 2017, she was honored as one of the 10 best immigration lawyers in New York by the American Institution of Legal Counsel. The following year, she was named among the 100 Bumble Business Most Influential People in NYC. More recently, she received the Duarte Honors from the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in New York and was recognized by New York City council members Hon. Eric A. Ulrich, Hon. Fernando Cabrera, Hon. Carmen De La Rosa, and Assemblyman Michael A. Blake for her contributions to the Dominican diaspora and her legal work.

Maria is also committed to educating others, having delivered presentations and led conferences on assisting foreign lawyers in achieving their credentials and succeeding in competitive business environments. She has actively lobbied in the United States Congress to advocate for due process at the border and accountability from USCIS.

Outside of her legal practice, Maria is dedicated to volunteer work, supporting victims of domestic violence in collaboration with the non-profit organization Sanctuary for Families and the Queens.
