MIchael Benz

Michael T. Benz, an associate attorney in HoganWillig's litigation department, specializes in personal injury, medical malpractice, and criminal defense. He is committed to preparing each case as if it will proceed to a jury trial, believing this approach is crucial for achieving the best outcomes for his clients.

Mr. Benz brings extensive trial experience to HoganWillig, having tried numerous cases as an Assistant Defender with the renowned Defender Association of Philadelphia. Prior to joining HoganWillig, he operated his own private criminal defense practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a native of Buffalo, he recently returned to Western New York to continue his legal career and raise his family.

Mr. Benz graduated cum laude from Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where he honed his trial skills as part of the award-winning mock trial team. He earned the title of Best Advocate in the Texas Young Lawyer's Association Regional Competition for two consecutive years. Following his graduation, Michael became an adjunct professor, joining the mock trial coaching staff.

He is admitted to practice law in New York and Pennsylvania and is a member of the New York State Bar, the Erie County Bar Association, and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
