Lynn Norton-Ramirez

Lynn Norton-Ramirez began her distinguished legal career in Los Angeles, California, in 1987. In 1990, she joined the Office of the Public Defender, where she spent 18 years as a Deputy Public Defender. During this time, she gained extensive trial experience and was promoted to the highest trial level, handling death penalty cases. She has also been a lecturer at attorney training seminars, focusing on juvenile mitigation and fitness, and has taught a felony trial series for new felony lawyers.

After relocating to North Carolina, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in Durham County, prosecuting both misdemeanors and serious felonies. Since November 2008, she has been in private practice, representing clients in criminal and traffic matters across Orange, Durham, Chatham, and Wake counties. Notably, her case, Packingham v. North Carolina, was argued before the United States Supreme Court in 2017, where the court upheld her argument that a North Carolina law violated her client's First Amendment rights.

Lynn Norton-Ramirez is an active member of both the North Carolina Bar Association and the Orange County Bar Association.
