David Gantt

David Gantt is an esteemed attorney located in Asheville, North Carolina, specializing in Workers' Compensation and serving the western region of the state. His legal expertise extends to Social Security Disability, Personal Injury, and Wrongful Death cases. David earned his BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978 and received his Juris Doctor from Campbell University Law School in 1981. That same year, he was admitted to practice in North Carolina and the U.S. District Court, Western District of North Carolina. His credentials expanded in 1984 to include the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court, Middle District of North Carolina. By 1985, David was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court.

David is actively involved in the legal community as a member of the 28th Judicial Bar, the North Carolina, and American Bar Associations. He has contributed significantly to the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, serving as a sustaining patron and in the President’s Club. Additionally, he is a member of the National Association of Social Security Disability Claimant’s Representatives and the NC Bar Association General Practice Hall of Fame.

Beyond his legal practice, David is deeply committed to his community. He serves on the board of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee and holds a life membership with the NAACP. His dedication to public service is further demonstrated by his appointments to the Employment Security Commission in 2008 and the Mountain Resources Commission in 2010. David also chaired the March of Dimes Babies Walk in 2012. His political career includes being elected to the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners in ten elections since 1996, retiring from politics in 2016 after two decades of service.
