Janet Amburgey

Janet Amburgey is a dedicated Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, practicing in Asheville, North Carolina. Since earning her degree from the Appalachian School of Law in 2008, she has devoted her career to family law, guiding clients through complex issues such as divorce, child custody, and property settlements. Janet also assists with adoptions, name changes, and provides protection in domestic violence and DSS cases. Her approach emphasizes problem-solving, helping families transition to new beginnings.

In 2012, Janet joined Gum, Hiller & McCroskey and became a named partner in 2018. She is an active member of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and has served as co-chair of the parents' rights committee in 2017. Her involvement extends to the 28th Judicial Bar, where she has been part of the executive committee since 2015 and has held the position of Secretary since 2018.

Janet's excellence in family law has been recognized by her inclusion in the North Carolina Super Lawyers list since 2020, with earlier recognition as a “Rising Star” in 2017 and 2018.
