Melody Jo King

Melody J. King is a seasoned litigator and negotiator specializing in Family Law, with a focus on child custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, and divorce. She has extensive experience in drafting premarital and postmarital agreements, as well as Separation and Property Settlement Agreements. After gaining valuable experience at a large law firm, Melody established her own practice dedicated exclusively to family law. Her approach involves close collaboration with clients to understand their unique needs, ensuring each one receives a customized plan for their case. Whether through mediation or litigation, Melody prepares her clients for all challenges they may encounter.

Melody has undergone advanced training in family law trial advocacy through the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, emphasizing child custody, child support, and complex equitable distribution cases. This training includes the valuation and distribution of businesses and the examination of expert witnesses.

Melody attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law and is licensed to practice in both North Carolina and Florida. She currently serves as the President of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, Western North Carolina Chapter, and is involved with the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. Additionally, she volunteers as a lawyer for Pisgah Legal Services.
