Michelle Dewkett-Kochhar

Michelle Dewkett-Kochhar discovered her passion for workers’ compensation law after exploring personal injury and criminal defense law following her graduation from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 2019. That same summer, she successfully passed the North Carolina Bar Exam.

Originally from Rhinebeck, New York, Dewkett-Kochhar moved to Raleigh to attend North Carolina State University, where she earned a B.A. in International Studies with a minor in Spanish. Her commitment to inclusivity in the legal field was evident during law school, where she served as a research assistant and interned with the Wake County Public Defender’s Office, a personal injury firm, and the Battered Immigrant Project of Legal Aid North Carolina.

In these roles, Dewkett-Kochhar utilized her Spanish language skills to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking clients. Her dedication to the Spanish-speaking community continued as she joined firms focused on this demographic, honing her expertise in workers’ compensation to assist clients in navigating the process.

At Hardison & Cochran, she aims to further support the Spanish-speaking community in Burlington. Outside her professional life, Dewkett-Kochhar enjoys time with her husband, Dashiell Kochhar, and their pets. A true New Yorker at heart, she follows the New York Yankees during the MLB season.
