Mr. Damon Chetson

Damon Chetson, a dedicated criminal defense attorney in Cary, North Carolina, has built a reputation on his unwavering belief in the criminal justice system's promise that all individuals are innocent until proven guilty. In 2022, he ran for District Attorney in Wake County, earning nearly 42 percent of the vote against a formidable incumbent.

With over a decade in practice, Mr. Chetson has defended clients in some of North Carolina's most serious and high-profile cases. Notably, in 2019, he achieved the sole victory in what was described as the federal government's largest prosecution in American history. That same year, he and co-counsel successfully opposed the death penalty in a triple homicide case in Wake Forest. Additionally, he secured a hung jury in a Raleigh murder trial in December 2019.

In 2021, Mr. Chetson won a complete acquittal in a first-degree murder case in Smithfield. Beyond trial victories, he has negotiated exceptional plea deals, deferred prosecution agreements, and charge dismissals in hundreds of cases throughout his career.
