About Scott Montgomery
Scott Montgomery is a highly respected N.C. Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, certified by the North Carolina State Bar. Born in Raleigh and raised in Cary, North Carolina, Scott attended Ravenscroft High School, graduating in 1999. He earned his degree in psychology with honors from Wake Forest University in 2003 and returned to Wake Forest for law school. In 2007, he received the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Family Law Student Award.
During law school, Scott gained valuable experience through a clerkship at the North Carolina Attorney General's Office in 2005 and studied international law in Venice, Italy. In 2006, he clerked for this firm, where he authored a seminar manuscript on tax law and divorce and coauthored an appellate brief for the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
After graduating from Wake Forest University School of Law, Scott was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2008. By 2014, he achieved the distinction of being certified as a Family Law specialist, a status held by only 232 lawyers out of more than 20,000 licensed attorneys in the state.
To earn this certification, a lawyer must have at least five years of practice, significant experience in family law, attend relevant CLE seminars, receive positive peer reviews, and pass a written examination. Scott is an active member of the Family Law Section of the N.C. Bar Association.
