John G. Miskey IV

John G. Miskey IV is a distinguished Family Law attorney, board-certified in his field, and leads the Family Law department at his firm. His passion for Family Law and policy has been a consistent thread throughout his education and professional journey. Raised in Buffalo, NY, Mr. Miskey's strong work ethic was shaped early on as he delivered newspapers in his snow-covered neighborhood. He chose to remain close to family for his education, graduating summa cum laude from Niagara University. He earned his Juris Doctor from The State University of New York at Buffalo, focusing on civil litigation. During law school, he gained valuable experience clerking at Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria and for a U.S. Senator's district office.

After moving to North Carolina, Mr. Miskey established the firm's Family Law practice upon his admission to the North Carolina Bar in 2006. By 2012, he became a shareholder at Bagwell Holt Smith P.A. Mr. Miskey is committed to guiding families through challenging times, handling cases from high net worth divorces to offering pro bono services to those in need.

In the community, Mr. Miskey has been actively involved with the Compass Center for Women and Families in Chapel Hill, serving on its board and presenting at monthly divorce workshops. He currently co-chairs the Orange Family Law Bar, having previously held the same role with the Durham Family Law Bar. As a guest lecturer at North Carolina Central’s law school and a panelist for legal and therapeutic professionals, he shares his expertise widely.

Outside his professional life, Mr. Miskey enjoys gardening, traveling, and spending quality time with his family.
