About Stacey R. Walters
Stacey R. Walters, originally from Hillsborough, North Carolina, discovered her passion for helping others early in life. By 16, she was working part-time at Duke Medical Center. After graduating from Orange County High School, she pursued a Biology degree at Elon University, intending to attend medical school. However, her experience serving on a murder trial at 19 sparked her interest in law. She graduated Cum Laude from Elon in 1992.
Stacey married her high school sweetheart, Roland, and volunteered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation before moving to Lansing, Michigan. There, she attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School, engaging in the Elder Law Clinic and the Student Government Association, graduating in the top third of her class. After passing the Michigan bar, she clerked for a judge who deeply influenced her legal career.
In 2005, Stacey relocated to Greensboro, NC, joining the law firm of Teague, Rotenstreich, Stanaland, Fox & Holt. That same year, she welcomed her son, Evan, and in 2008, her daughter, Shayla, who was born with a congenital heart defect. Shayla's medical challenges inspired Stacey to focus her practice on estate planning to help families prepare for the unexpected.
Stacey eventually opened her own firm in Mebane and later joined Rabalais Law. In 2016, she and her partners formed Thomas-Walters, PLLC, dedicated to simplifying estate planning and settlement processes. The tragic loss of her daughter Shayla in 2018 further solidified her commitment to providing peace of mind for families facing life's uncertainties.
