Joel Jackson Hardison

Since joining Hardison & Cochran in 2008, Joel Jackson Hardison has transitioned from defending insurance companies in Workers Compensation cases to advocating for injured and disabled workers. His experience on the defense side provides him with a unique perspective that greatly benefits his clients.

Hardison began his legal career at two insurance law firms in Charlotte and Raleigh. His shift to representing individuals at Hardison & Cochran allowed him to utilize his Workers Compensation knowledge in a more impactful way. He is a partner at the firm, where he handles all aspects of Workers Compensation cases, from initial filings to appeals in federal district court. Notably, he secured a $3.5 million recovery for a client who suffered paralysis from a workplace accident, a case recognized by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly as one of the notable cases of 2015.

Hardison earned a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina in 1999 and a J.D. from the UNC School of Law in 2004, where he was a member of the Holderness Moot Court team and made the Dean’s List. He is recognized as a Board Certified Specialist in Workers Compensation Law by the North Carolina Bar Association.

Outside of his legal practice, Hardison enjoys family time with his young daughter and son and is an avid supporter of University of North Carolina sports.
