Christine Burnside

Christine Burnside is an attorney at the Deuterman Law Group with a focus on Social Security Disability cases. Her dedication to assisting injured and disabled clients is matched by her empathetic nature and in-depth legal knowledge, making her an invaluable asset to her clients.

Christine completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007, earning a degree in political science and a second major in English. During her college years, she gained valuable experience working as an office assistant at various law firms.

To explore her interest in law, Christine spent two years as a legal assistant and office manager at Poisson, Poisson & Bower in Wilmington. She contributed to a diverse range of cases, including workers’ compensation, estate law, criminal defense, personal injury, family law, traffic cases, and civil litigation.

In 2009, Christine enrolled at the UNC School of Law and received her juris doctor in 2012. That same year, she was admitted to the N.C. State Bar. During law school, she was actively involved in several organizations, including the Student Bar Association, Carolina Law Ambassadors, the Hispanic Latino Law Student Association, Women in Law, and the Hispanic Latino Legal Issues Division of the N.C. Advocates for Justice.

Christine gained practical experience as a research assistant for a UNC professor and as a legal intern with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Office of Counsel. Her role as an American Bar Association and N.C. Bar Association Fellow in Environmental Law allowed her to work on environmental issues, such as Clean Water Act enforcement, with the Corps of Engineers.

Of Colombian descent, Christine aims to improve her conversational Spanish skills to better serve her Spanish-speaking clients.
