Sean McIlveen

Sean McIlveen is a Partner Attorney and Co-Founder of the McIlveen Family Law Firm, where he has practiced family law for more than 15 years in Gastonia, North Carolina. Sean focuses exclusively on family law issues, including child support, custody, alimony, grandparents’ rights, property division, same-sex couples, estates, wills, and adoption.

Sean grew up in Gastonia, NC, and earned his B.A. from UNC-Charlotte. He furthered his education at Wake Forest University School of Law before obtaining his J.D. from the University of Houston. Outside of the courtroom, Sean is passionate about building custom furniture, a testament to his dedication to craftsmanship and precision.

In addition to his legal practice, Sean is the author of two books on child custody and frequently speaks at legal events. He is a member of both the North Carolina Bar Association and the Gaston County Bar Association, and he holds the designation of a Certified Mediator.
