About Zach Marquand

Zach Marquand began his professional journey as a high school math teacher through Teach for America, serving in a rural community in Eastern North Carolina. Originally from Knoxville, Tenn., Zach pursued his undergraduate studies at DePauw University in Indiana, earning a bachelor's degree in economics and Latin. During his time there, he was the senior captain of the men's swim team.

After two years with Teach for America, Zach attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. He immersed himself in pro bono initiatives, volunteering with the university’s Wills Project, the UNC Center for Civil Rights, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, and the Southern Coalition for Social Justice.

While in law school, Zach gained valuable experience as a law clerk for the Legal Aid of North Carolina and the N.C. Justice Center Foreclosure Prevention Project, where he assisted clients facing foreclosure. He also served as vice chair of the law school honor court and contributed as an editor for the UNC Banking Journal.

Zach graduated with honors in 2012 and was admitted to the N.C. State Bar the same year. His dedication to pro bono work and community involvement continues to be a hallmark of his career, aligning perfectly with the values of the Deuterman Law Group.

Before joining the Deuterman Law Group, Zach worked as an immigration case manager at IBM in Durham, focusing on visa applications for foreign nationals. He also served as a research attorney specializing in consumer and financial class action claims. Currently, Zach handles workers’ compensation claims at the Deuterman Law Group’s Winston-Salem office, where he is dedicated to helping clients navigate their challenges and secure the compensation they need.
