Tonya VanBenschoten

Tonya VanBenschoten has been practicing law since 2012 and is licensed in both Ohio and Kentucky. Her legal expertise is concentrated in Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Family Law, and Bankruptcy. Over the past two years, Tonya has redirected her focus from family law to estate planning, obtaining a certification in this area and working towards an advanced certification. She has also completed 60 hours of mediation training and has served as a Guardian ad Litem in multiple counties.

Tonya's military career began in 2001 with the Kentucky National Guard, initially serving as a military police officer, including a deployment to Baghdad, Iraq, where she received several medals, including a Purple Heart. In 2008, she transitioned to a Signal Officer role, serving as a platoon leader, executive officer, and company commander in the 149th Brigade. Her legal military roles included Judge Advocate, trial counsel, Cyber Law Chief, Brigade Judge Advocate, and Deputy State Judge Advocate. She planned to retire from the Army in December 2021.

Residing in Northern Kentucky with her family, Tonya is married and has seven children. Her professional affiliations include the Northern Kentucky Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the Cincinnati Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Academy of Northern Kentucky Collaborative Professionals, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. She is also a Certified Estate Planner.

Tonya earned her B.A. from Western Kentucky University in 2006 and her J.D. from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2011. She is admitted to practice in the State of Ohio, the State of Kentucky, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
