Thom L. Cooper

Over thirty years ago, Thom L. Cooper established the law firm known today as Cooper, Adel, Vu & Associates, with a mission to represent seniors by enhancing their independence and alleviating family burdens. Attorney Cooper has since conducted numerous educational seminars throughout Ohio, focusing on estate planning and elder law.

Attorney Cooper has assisted thousands of seniors and their families in securing public benefits to safeguard their assets. Notably, he was one of the first 19 attorneys in Ohio to achieve dual certification by the National Elder Law Foundation (NELF) as a Certified Elder Law Attorney and by the Ohio Bar Association (OSBA) as a Specialist in Elder Law. He was also among the charter members certified by NELF in 1995.

A portion of Attorney Cooper’s practice is dedicated to supporting veterans and their surviving spouses. He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Thom Cooper has served as past president of the American Association of Trust, Estate and Elder Law Attorneys (AATEELA), a prestigious, invitation-only association, and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). He completed his undergraduate studies at Allegheny College, earned a PhD from The Ohio State University, and received his Juris Doctorate from Capital University.
