James Monast

James Monast, an accomplished attorney in Columbus, Ohio, earned his Juris Doctorate in 1985 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981 from The Ohio State University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. As part of the inaugural class of certified workers' compensation specialists in Ohio, he has handled thousands of cases before the Ohio Industrial Commission, Court of Common Pleas, 10th District Court of Appeals, and Ohio Supreme Court.

In 2016, James was invited by the Ohio State Bar Association to join the OSBA Specialty Board, contributing to the certification process for workers' compensation specialists. His commitment to the legal community is further demonstrated by his role as a judge at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law's mediation and moot court competitions.

Beyond his professional achievements, James is active in his community, coaching Upward Basketball and volunteering at Vacation Bible School. An Eagle Scout, he has been involved with his sons in scouting, serving as both assistant Cubmaster and assistant Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 96.

In his personal life, James enjoys hiking, camping, range shooting, and is a fan of Skyline chili. He is an avid reader, with interests ranging from Stephen King to church history and theology. Alongside his wife Amy, they attend Vineyard Church of Columbus and cherish their family, which includes five children and one grandson. James is also a political history enthusiast and a member of the National Rifle Association, with a passion for restoring his 1978 Toyota FJ 40 Land Cruiser.
