John Patrick Colan

John Patrick Colan is a well-respected attorney based in Lakewood, Ohio, who is deeply committed to principles of fairness and ethics. From 2014 to 2016, John shared his expertise by teaching Ethics and Legal Issues at a technical college.

As an Assistant Prosecutor in the General Felony Unit, he achieved a 99.8 percent conviction rate on over 1,000 cases. Later, in the Major Trial Unit, John honed his skills as a first-chair trial attorney, successfully trying more than 100 cases with a 97 percent conviction rate.

John's firsthand experience with the impact of criminal, reckless, or negligent behavior on Ohio residents has fueled his dedication to justice. After his tenure in the prosecutor's office, he transitioned to advocating for individuals with legitimate grievances against large corporations, including families defrauded by powerful companies.

Not one to shy away from a challenge, John is known for standing up to large corporate interests, including insurance companies that attempt to minimize payments to injured parties. His educational background includes a BA in Philosophy from John Carroll University and a Juris Doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University, earned in 2005. John resides on the West Side of Cleveland with his wife and son.
