G. Robinson Stratton, III

G. Robinson Stratton, III combines his legal acumen with a robust background in law enforcement. Practicing litigation since 1991, he has concurrently served with the Oklahoma City Police Department starting in 1997. In his role as a Field Training Officer, he has instructed new patrol officers and authored training materials, including the “Officers’ Guide To Search and Seizure Pursuant to the 4th Amendment to the United States Constitution.” As a state-certified advanced instructor, he has taught at the police academy on topics such as Law, Search and Seizure, and Officer Safety.

In an administrative role within the department’s Planning and Research Unit, Rob reviewed new legislation affecting the department and contributed to the development of city ordinances. His collaboration extended to the Municipal Counselor’s Office, City Clerk’s Office, Police Department Finance Office, Municipal Courts Office, Office of Budget and Management, and the Office of the City Manager.

In 2005, Rob's leadership was acknowledged when he was nominated by Governor Brad Henry and confirmed by the Oklahoma State Senate to serve a five-year term as Commissioner for the Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission, including a year as Commission Chairman. He is also federally certified by FEMA in Advanced ICS for Command & General Staff for Complex Incidents.

Rob has shared his legal knowledge as an adjunct professor in the police science department at a major state university. Through his website, www.AttorneyCop.com, he provides legal updates, resources, and legal representation for both police officers and citizens. His firsthand experience includes not only serving as a police officer and lawyer involved in uses of force but also supervising officers in such situations, including officer-involved shootings.
