Since joining the Bar in 2005, Michael J. Donohue has dedicated his career almost exclusively to practicing criminal law. His extensive experience spans multiple roles within the courtroom, providing him with a comprehensive perspective on legal proceedings.

Michael Donohue began his legal journey as a law clerk for a criminal judge, where he gained insight into how judges resolve complex factual and legal issues. This role sharpened his research and writing abilities, which are crucial in intricate litigation cases.

As an Assistant Public Defender, Counsel Michael Donohue defended challenging cases that are often perceived as severe. Despite the demanding nature of this work, he found it immensely rewarding to advocate for individuals frequently marginalized by the criminal justice system.

Transitioning to a prosecutor role, Legal Counsel Donohue acquired significant trial and litigation experience. He conducted hearings and presented evidence regularly, demonstrating his proficiency in adversarial proceedings. Notably, he was entrusted with prosecuting homicide cases early in his tenure, a responsibility typically reserved for senior attorneys.

Throughout his prosecutorial career, Attorney Donohue completed specialized training programs exclusive to law enforcement. These covered diverse topics, including DUI, undercover drug investigations, wiretaps, search and seizure, and sex crimes. Additionally, he contributed to specialized units within the DA's Office, such as the White Collar Crime/Insurance Fraud Unit and the Arson Unit.
