Attorney Michael J. Donohue has focused on criminal law since his admission to the Bar in 2005. His career encompasses diverse roles within the courtroom, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on legal proceedings.

In the early stages of his career, Attorney Donohue served as a law clerk for a criminal judge. This position allowed him to observe firsthand how judges handle complex factual and legal issues, sharpening his skills in persuasive research and writing—essential tools in intricate litigation.

As an Assistant Public Defender, Attorney Donohue defended clients in challenging and severe cases. This role was not only demanding but also deeply fulfilling, as it involved advocating for individuals often marginalized by the criminal justice system.

Transitioning to the role of a prosecutor, Attorney Donohue gained extensive trial and litigation experience. He was actively involved in conducting hearings and presenting evidence in adversarial settings. Within a year at the DA's Office, he was entrusted with prosecuting homicide cases, a testament to his capabilities as a trial attorney. His prosecutorial duties also included participation in specialized training programs exclusive to law enforcement, covering areas such as DUI, undercover drug investigations, wiretaps, search and seizure, and sex crimes.

Attorney Donohue further honed his expertise by working in specialized units within the DA's Office, including the White Collar Crime/Insurance Fraud Unit and the Arson Unit. These experiences have contributed significantly to his comprehensive understanding of criminal law.
