Joseph E. Lastowka Jr.

Joseph E. Lastowka Jr., a lifelong resident of Delaware County, brings extensive experience in Estate Planning, Trusts, and Estates. He earned his Juris Doctor from The Law School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Economics & Mathematics from Yale University. Over his career, Joe has prepared Wills or Trust documents for over 6,500 individuals and has acted as legal counsel in settling more than 1,300 estates or trusts.

Nationally recognized for a landmark court decision requiring the IRS to cover a taxpayer’s legal fees, Joe is an elected fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. His expertise has earned him recognition as a Super Lawyer™ and inclusion in Best Lawyers in America™ within his practice areas.

Joe has chaired both the Delaware County Orphans’ Court Rules Committee and the Delaware County Orphans’ Court Education Committee. He has also contributed to academia as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Widener University, where he developed and taught the Estate Planning and Administration course for the Widener University Paralegal Studies Program.

He is affiliated with the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Delaware County Bar Association. Joe frequently presents on estate planning topics to various organizations, including the International Conference of the National Association for Hospital Development, the National Association of Credit Union Service Organizations, and the Delaware State Tax Institute, among others.
