Michael DeMatt

Michael DeMatt is a seasoned attorney based in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, focusing his practice on criminal defense and personal injury litigation. His expertise extends to wrongful death, auto accidents, and fall downs, as well as general civil litigation, such as contract and landlord/tenant disputes.

Michael has litigated numerous civil and criminal cases, participating in about 40 jury trials by 2021. His courtroom experience includes achieving total acquittals in six out of nine trials over a four-year period. Notably, he has handled several high-profile criminal cases, including a death penalty case and the initial trial of the 'Greensburg Six' murder cases. One significant case involved the sale of counterfeit software to the United States Army, resulting in an acquittal in federal court.

Originally from Newark, Delaware, Michael earned his degree in English from the University of Delaware. Before college, he gained experience as a draftsman and CAD operator. During his college years, he studied abroad in Italy, played club lacrosse, and coached his high school lacrosse team.

He attended Washington & Lee University School of Law, graduating in 2000. During his law studies, he worked as a research assistant and interned with public defenders' offices, assisting in homicide trials. Michael was active in extracurricular activities, serving as treasurer and president of the W&L Law Rugby Football Club. His connection to Greensburg began through his wife, a native of the area, leading him to settle there after graduation.

Outside his legal practice, Michael remains involved in lacrosse, coaching and participating in a men's pickup league.
