Russell J. Adkins

Russell J. Adkins is a dedicated attorney with a primary focus on family law, assisting clients through the complexities of divorce and custody issues. His practice also extends to estate planning and administration, as well as elder law. In May 2024, he was appointed Chair of the Family Law Committee of the Mercer County Bar Association.

Russell has extensive experience in managing a wide range of family law cases and litigation. His expertise includes complex and straightforward divorces, collaborative practice as an alternative to litigation, and the drafting of pre- and post-nuptial agreements and separation agreements. He is adept in property division, equitable distribution, alimony, spousal and child support, child custody, and adoption.

He frequently advises schools and daycare providers on policies and protocols related to child custody orders. Additionally, Russell receives regular judicial appointments as a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL), where he investigates high-conflict custody disputes and provides reports and recommendations to judges to support the best interests of the children involved.

In 2012, Russell became trained and certified in Collaborative Law, an innovative process designed to resolve disputes without litigation, particularly useful in family and business partner disagreements. By 2015, he completed mediator training, qualifying him to offer mediation services for family law, civil, and estate disputes, helping clients achieve out-of-court resolutions.
