Graham Newman

Graham Newman is a distinguished attorney known for his expertise in commercial class actions, contractual litigation, insurance bad faith, and products liability, practicing in both state and federal courts. His notable trial court victories include a $14.5 million verdict in an insurance bad faith case, an $8 million class action judgment, and a $4.75 million verdict in a products liability case.

Graham has briefed numerous appeals before the South Carolina Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also presented oral arguments in four cases before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and one case before the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Since joining Chappell, Smith & Arden in June 2014, Graham has significantly strengthened the firm's litigation practice. Beyond his legal practice, he teaches an undergraduate legal course at the University of South Carolina Honors College and participates actively on several boards and committees focused on improving the judicial system.

Graham enjoys spending time with his nine-year-old son, who shares his passion for fishing, and his seven-year-old Portuguese Water Dog, a friendly presence in the hallways of Chappell, Smith & Arden, P.A.
