Rad Stuart Deaton

With nearly twenty years of experience, Rad Stuart Deaton established the Deaton Law Firm, LLC after completing a rewarding clerkship with a distinguished South Carolina Circuit Court judge. This early experience inspired him to pursue a wide range of legal matters.

In his criminal defense practice, Rad has represented clients in Federal, State, Magistrate, and Municipal Courts. His cases span from minor traffic violations and DUIs to serious charges, including murder.

In Family Court, Rad has advocated for individuals in cases involving divorces, separations, adoptions, termination of parental rights, juvenile charges, name changes, abuse and neglect proceedings with the SC Department of Social Services, and Orders of Protection from Domestic Abuse.

Rad's civil law expertise includes handling wrongful death, medical malpractice, surveying malpractice, post-conviction relief, automobile accidents, workers' compensation, dog bites, consumer protection code violations, SC Unfair Trade Practices Act violations, landlord/tenant disputes, contract issues, slip and fall accidents, false arrest/malicious prosecution, and defamation cases involving libel and slander.

In 2009, Rad was nominated and appointed as a magistrate for Berkeley County and now serves as Chief Magistrate. He has presided over thousands of bench and jury trials in civil and criminal cases, landlord/tenant disputes, restraining orders, claim and delivery actions, public sales, and small claims.
