David Pearlman

David Pearlman, a lifelong Charleston resident, has been deeply influenced by the principles of dignity and respect in law. His father, the Honorable Gus H. Pearlman, served as Probate Judge in Charleston County for 35 years, instilling in David the values of respect, dignity, and equal justice for all.

David's passion for civil and workers' rights was evident during his college years at the University of Georgia and George Washington University, where he actively participated in marches for these causes. After earning his law degree from the University of South Carolina Law School, he joined the Steinberg Law Firm in 1976 and became a partner by 1980.

A member of the South Carolina Bar for over four decades, David has achieved landmark victories in the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court. His efforts have been instrumental in defending workers against major corporations. He has also served as Legislative Chairperson for the South Carolina Injured Workers' Advocates (IWA) for 12 years, contributing to numerous committees focused on workers' rights.

David's contributions to the legal field have earned him the Gedney M. Howe Jr. Award for Outstanding Public Service. He has also been recognized by Lawyers Weekly with the Leadership in Law award in 2011 and 2017. For over ten years, he has been listed among the Best Lawyers in America and consistently nominated as a Super Lawyer by his peers. Holding an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, David is esteemed for his professional and ethical standards.

In addition to his legal practice, David has shared his expertise as an adjunct professor of Workers' Compensation Law at the Charleston School of Law. His commitment to justice and his genuine care for people make him a highly respected figure in the legal community.
