Chance Sturup

Chance Sturup has been an associate attorney with Cromer Babb & Porter, LLC since 2019, where he excels in employment law. His practice is dedicated to representing employees throughout the state of South Carolina in matters such as civil rights, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and discrimination, including race, gender, disability, and age. He also handles cases involving retaliation, breach of contract, wage disputes, whistleblowing, family and medical leave, non-compete agreements, severance negotiations, grievances, licensure appeals, defamation, and negligence.

Clients appreciate Chance for his assertive public advocacy and candid private counsel. His passion for advocacy was evident early in his career, having been one of the most awarded student-attorneys nationwide, with nearly twenty “top advocate” accolades in trial competitions spanning high school to law school.

Beyond his legal practice, Chance is a Professor at the University of South Carolina Honors College, where he imparts knowledge on American Trial Advocacy. He also leads the university's Mock Trial Program as head coach.

Originally from Pensacola, Florida, Chance earned his undergraduate degrees in history and communication studies from the University of Alabama on a Presidential Scholarship. At the University of South Carolina School of Law, he was a recipient of the highest Academic Merit Scholarship, served as a law school ambassador, and was honored with the American College of Trial Lawyers Award, the D. Reece Williams III Trial Advocacy Award, and the Judge Paul Joseph Kelly Jr. Outstanding Advocate Award.
