Jake Modla has been a prominent figure in labor and employment law since 1990, practicing in both North and South Carolina. He began his legal journey with Haynsworth Baldwin Johnson and Greaves and later at Ogletree Deakins, where he focused on cases involving discrimination, wage and hour disputes, and civil rights. Notably, he appeared before the United States Supreme Court in the case of O’Connor v. Consolidated Coin Caterers Corporation.
In 2004, Jake transitioned to an in-house role at Family Dollar Stores, serving as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and later as Vice President of HR Operations. His expertise was further honed at Littler Mendelson, the world's largest labor and employment law firm, where he defended employers in federal litigation and provided guidance on compliance, labor relations, and workplace claims.
In 2016, Jake founded his own firm, focusing on representing employees and workers in cases of retaliation, discrimination, harassment, and wage theft. He later joined the Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor before bringing his extensive experience to Cromer Babb and Porter.
