Melinda Queen Taylor

Melinda Queen Taylor was raised in the Columbia, South Carolina area, where she continues to live and work. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina and graduated cum laude from Charlotte School of Law. During her time in law school, she was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Crown and received a merit scholarship.

Melinda spent over eight years at a public interest law firm, where she practiced family law and was recognized as the head family law attorney. In 2016, she was honored as Attorney of the Year. Her extensive experience includes advocating for victims of domestic violence, supported by specialized training from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) in domestic violence and custody cases.

Melinda's practice covers a wide range of family law issues, from simple and uncontested matters to high-conflict cases. She assists clients with divorce, custody, visitation, child support, adoption, birth certificate issues, and separation agreements. She has completed the South Carolina family law mediation course and has mediated numerous custody and divorce cases, addressing both simple and complex issues.

In addition to her litigation work, Melinda has represented clients at the South Carolina Court of Appeals. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar and is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for South Carolina. Melinda has served as chairman of the Richland County Bar’s Public Interest Committee and was named a Legal Elite in family law in 2020 and 2021.
